Roto-Rooter Study Finds Significant Water Savings With MJSI’s Water Conservation Products

Shorewood, IL, July 6, 2011 --  MJSI, Inc. today announced the results of a year-long study conducted by Roto-Rooter, North America’s #1 plumbing repair service, that showed that the installation of water conservation products in a 16-unit apartment complex reduced indoor water usage by 34%, for an annual savings of $3,000 and 565,000 gallons of water per year.

Last year, as part of its ROTOGreen program, Roto-Rooter technicians installed five water-saving products including retrofitting 3.5gpf (gallon-per-flush) toilets into dual flush models using the HydroRightÔdual flush converter and the HydroCleanÒtoilet fill valve. They also replaced shower heads with the latest 1.5 gallon-per-minute models and swapped out bathroom and kitchen sink faucet aerators with more restrictive flow models.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program, replacement of faucet aerators and showerheads in a household can be expected to reduce water usage by approximately 3.5%. The remaining 30% reduction is due to the installation of the HydroRight and HydroClean, a statistic consistent with other independent studies that have been conducted utilizing these two products, by Bill Gauley, an independent advisor to the USEPA’s WaterSense program.

“Our water-saving products are increasingly being used because the payback time is short and the savings is significant,” said Michael Schuster, president, MJSI. “Priced at under $25, and designed to install without tools, our products make water conservation easy and affordable for consumers and commercials users alike.”

“The idea behind ROTOGreen is that we can make it easy for families and businesses to save a significant amount of water and money without changing behaviors,” said Roto-Rooter President and COO Rick Arquilla. “The results found in this study show how successful this program has been.”
