By the year 2013, 36 states are expecting local regional and statewide water shortages, even under non-drought conditions.

Fresh-water consumption worldwide has more than doubled since World War II to nearly 4,000 cubic kilometers annually and set to rise another 25 percent by 2030.

By 2025 more than two-thirds (5.8 out of 8 billion people) of the world's population are expected to suffer from water shortages. This will affect practically every country in the world including the United States.
